It is humbling to
consider that the eternal CREATOR is focused on
"this day". Oh, what
power and confidence is demanded from the knowledge of an
infinite and blessed scrutiny honed upon our lives
"this day". We must capture the moment for HIS
glory or it will prove to our shame. Where is the
disgrace, in this our day, when so many find themselves on the
wrong side of the river? Joshua, David, Nehemiah,
Hezekiah, Esther, Ruth, and a host of others have all passed
over. To ignore their footprints, or sit and memorialize
their passing, is tantamount to denying the(ir) faith.
What blush there must be amidst the Hebrews 11 section of the
stands as the brunt of our professing generation is pinned down
on the beach in cowardice.
"JESUS CHRIST the same yesterday, and to
day, and for ever." Our tendency is to romanticize
the past, dream of the future, and wonder in the present.
That won't do for the child of GOD! Wonder will cause HIM
to pass by while we neglect to pass over. Wonder in the
place of obedience is naval-focus, Far Eastern, ... not Biblical
and not Christian. We have stationed HIM at the entrance
to the church while denying HIS immutability. We endure
HIS presence and disregard HIS voice. We sit burning the
wood of past feats of faith and pray for the rapture, counting
the rolling current of "this day"
as so much water under the bridge.
"this day" holds many
challenges and opportunities, will it be:
-
A day of dependence (Matthew 6:11)
-
A day of
determination (Joshua 24:15)
-
A day of denial (Luke
22:34)
Paralysis on the East
side of the river may be attributable to
"this day" never becoming
"the day" in your life.
If so, humbly receive HIM Who alone can make
"now" that reality.
"(For HE saith, I have heard thee in a
time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured
thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day
of salvation.)"
If "now"
salvation is yours, keep moving, for
"the day" of time will soon dissolve into
"today" of eternal paradise where all
crossings end for the saved.
"And JESUS said unto
him, Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with ME in
paradise."
