Rearward takes
recollection, the status quo sight, but,
"forward:" demands the vision of faith. It is uncharted,
scary, intimidating, yea seemingly impossible; but forward is exactly where
GOD is leading. Oh the bliss of a tight spot! Where
else can GOD be GOD? Let the 'also rans' of the faithless
plod around in their ingenuity; but HIS Word is clear that: "The
just shall live by his faith..." Forward
is the only direction GOD knows; and it is not commanded that HE
may be proven, but that you may be! If faith fails at your Red Sea, it
becomes your Dead Sea instead, at least for all the
impractical
purposes of your religion. GOD'S ways have never been, nor will
they ever be ours (cf.
Isaiah 55:8-9). If your back is against the proverbial
wall, and the dust of the manslayer who pursues you gathers in
your sight; there is no time for shipbuilding. When HE
says: "go", don't go back; but rather look to the other shore and leave the means
to get there in HIS capable and omnipotent hands.
Left to ourselves we
would abide on our little beach front, basking in the
self-righteousness of half obedience. GOD, knowing this
well,
sends the charioteers of crisis our way to move us on in HIS
will and promise. The Apostle Paul, recounting the Exodus
to Corinth centuries later writes: "Moreover, brethren, I would not that
ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the
cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized
unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same
spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for
they drank of that spiritual ROCK that followed them: and that
ROCK was CHRIST." In regard to
whatever, or whomever, is impeding your Christian inertia, GOD
commands: "go forward:"
Do you find yourself
between a ROCK and a Red Sea? If so, lift your faith
toward Heaven, and go forward with the ROCK.
"Sing ye to the LORD, for HE hath
triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath HE thrown
into the sea."
