It should be of no
surprise that the unredeemed embrace lies; for the root of lying
taps the fallen nature of men: "Who
changed the truth of GOD into a lie, and worshipped and served
the creature more than the CREATOR ..." No less
of a shock, though a bit harder to detect, are the religious
lies so prevalent since the first one told to Eve in the Garden.
Adam then lied to GOD; Cain, his son, soon followed suit ... and
here we are today, immersed in a veritable culture of inverted
verity. JESUS stated that the Devil is a liar and the father of it,
possessing zero capacity for truth. HE further claimed
that each of the Devil's children (unsaved) could but lie,
and thus
the ubiquitous falsehood among us. Looking into the face
of the LORD just prior to HIS crucifixion, Pilate asked, what
seems on the surface at least, to be a legitimate question:
"...What is truth?" Absent
any sincerity however, the scoffing spirit of his tone betrays
all of our depravity, and the depth to which our ignorance is
ingrained. Man began his trek from Eden shamelessly
defying GOD'S truth; and to the present, this death march of
defiance has taken on a life of its own.
Truth decay is nigh
unto
irreversible in our homes, our corporations, our schools, our
governments, and most tragically, even in our churches. Evil
men and seducers are waxing worse and worse, exactly like Paul
said would happen in these last days; and unless
"men of truth" arise soon,
deceit will reach critical mass. Genuine Biblical truth
(which is the only truth there is) is our only hope
and foundation on which to build. JESUS boldly and clearly
proclaimed that HE is "the truth".
Affirming this basal principle in his letter to the church in Corinth, Paul writes:
"But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is
JESUS CHRIST." In preface to these words
of Paul, David asks in Psalm 11:3: "If the foundations be destroyed, what
can the righteous do?"
GOD is still in the
business of employing leaders; but only those who will
fearlessly lead men in truth, and the fear of HIM. Where
are the sanctified satirists who will crusade against error with
the Sword of HIS SPIRIT? "HE is
the ROCK, HIS work is perfect: for all HIS ways are judgment: a
GOD of truth and without iniquity, just and right is HE."
The anecdote to lies, still lies where it always has; i.e., in a
blood washed, born again relationship with the GOD of all truth!
"For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth."
