The acceptation of
personal responsibility has become character's dinosaur in our
day. We excavate the archives and read of its ancient
existence, but find it extremely rare in real time outside the
museum. The occasional sightings of this creature are almost
akin to Bigfoot, or Loch Ness, and every bit as stupefying.
Our courts run at flood stage with the irresponsible who side
step rather than step up. The dearth of this precious
commodity of character leaves families imploded, corporations
unprofitable, and churches dead in their own water.
"And the man said, the woman whom THOU gavest to be with me,
she gave me of the tree, and I did eat." The roots of this
sinful shell game go as deep as the Garden of Eden. Did
not the first couple created seek to pass the buck directly
under GOD'S nose? We too, like our
progenitors, deceive ourselves into thinking we are deceiving GOD.
In the midst of all our self-righteous ruse, HE still comes to the gardens of our irresponsibility to expose us for
who we are ... irresponsible! Buy into this or not, but
GOD will leave no fig leaf unturned to get to the bottom of just
who sins and hold them personally responsible. ...
behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin
will find you out." Paul says it as plain as can be in his letter to Rome:
"So then every one of us shall give
account of himself to GOD."
Our temporal irresponsibility, if left unchecked
will usher us right into the eternal. How many are the
reckless infidels who've decided to roll their dice right up to the White Throne;
as though some last chance casino sits on the shores of the
Crystal Sea:
"And I saw a great white throne, and
HIM that sat on it, from WHOSE face the earth and the heaven
fled away; and there was found no place for them." GOD
however, desires those who
will humbly settle out of court, seeking to make good the bad of
their sin through the blood of HIS SON.
"Now then we are ambassadors for
CHRIST, as though GOD did beseech you by us: we pray you in
CHRIST'S stead, be ye reconciled to GOD. For HE hath made
HIM to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of GOD in HIM."
