Spiritual illiteracy is
a present human tragedy; and especially egregious, given the
investment by GOD toward our education.
"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the SPIRIT OF
GOD: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know
them, because they are spiritually discerned."
HIS HOLY SPIRIT personally delivers an
intent to tutor; but in spite, the majority go truant, ditching school
and
content in their ignorance.
"Wherefore the law was our
schoolmaster to bring us unto CHRIST, that we might be justified
by faith."
"Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin"
is inscribed by GOD upon the wall of every heart; but how Mene a
Upharsin could go un-Tekeled if we would just come clean under
the handwriting of HIS indictment (cf.
Romans 6:23).
"For
the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness
..." The interpretation
of life, death, and eternity is only discovered in the identity
of HIS SON: "HE
saith unto them, But WHOM say ye that I am? And Simon
Peter answered and said, THOU art the CHRIST, the SON of the
living GOD."
The real issue is a
refusal to acknowledge HIM for WHO HE is; for in doing so, it
requires that we acknowledge ourselves for who we are.
"But their minds were
blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away
in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in
CHRIST. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the
vail is upon their heart."
Out of that willful insensibility, comes a fatal ambivalence; a
kind of soulish hypothermia,
which breeds a calm relative to one's companions and
surroundings ... after all, 9 out of 10 sinners can't be wrong,
can they?
"Nevertheless when it shall turn to the LORD, the vail shall be
taken away." The choice to become
spiritually literate is yours, the consequence of your choice is HIS.
"But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant."
