What does your
Christian life portray before the wicked? More
importantly, what does it produce? Do we appear
"as" troubled and
corrupt before the eyes of an evil world CHRIST has left us to reach?
Do we leave those who cross our path quenched, or parched and
embittered ... "they could not
drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore
the name of it was called Marah." If
honest in advertising, would the marquee outside your house of
worship have to read: Marah Community Church
"And they removed from Marah, and came
unto Elim: and in Elim were twelve fountains of water, and
threescore and ten palm trees;" In this
our day, so desperate for revival, is it any wonder the wicked shun the
church in search of Elim? Truth had fallen to the street
in Isaiah's day ... could it be said of ours that the
"righteous man" has
met like demise? But wait, doesn't the Bible say that:
"a just man falleth
seven times, and riseth up again:" Could we
be however, in the eighth round at Laodicea, where we are
neither Marah nor Elim; just lukewarm and nauseous? The
secret of the fountain and spring is its hidden source.
As believers, that source is JESUS CHRIST for it was HE WHO stated:
"... the water that I shall give him shall
be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." David proclaimed: "For with THEE is the
fountain of life:"; "... all my springs are in THEE." Solomon added:
"The fear of the LORD is a fountain of
life, ..."
"Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and
bitter?" We have stymied the spring with sin, and
our lives, meant to serve as a reflecting pool for others, have
become stagnant and murky. If you find yourself in such a state, be
reminded that repentance is the only plumber able to remove
the clog and release afresh the SOURCE of all Christian spring
water.
"Looking diligently lest any man fail
of the grace of GOD; lest any root of bitterness springing up
trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;"
