It is easy, is it not, to keep in step
with those going the same direction? Drill and ceremony,
in the arena before an adoring crowd, is
not the true test of the soldier however; the battlefield is!
Dress Blues under sun and applause is useless if you break rank
when the bullets begin to fly. The way we approach our
Christian training will reveal itself in the inevitable war
every true soldier of CHRIST must engage. The time we
invest in all facets of our faith are never to be regarded as
duty or drudge. No! ... each day's devotion, preaching
service, Sunday School class, or Bible training of any sort, is
meant to usher us from HIS presence trim, and fit to fight.
"Order my steps in THY word: and let not any iniquity have
dominion over me."
HE is the DIVINE D. I., HIS Word our
combat manual; and to disregard HIS training at any level will
prove to your own peril, and the disgrace of the coward in
the conflict.
"Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty ..."
A double heart is not directionless, just aimless and circular,
spiral if you will.
"A
double minded man is unstable in all his ways."
Sadly though, when it comes
to a victorious walk with GOD, many believers today have taken
it to the next level, and lie incapacitated spiritually, in a
perpetual state of triple heart bypass.
"Draw nigh to GOD, and HE will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your
hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."
These may be strong words from James, the 1/2 brother
of our LORD; but just what the DOCTOR
ordered, and often needful, to get us back in the battle!
"Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain ..."
The anatomy of the trooper of truth goes like this: our
eye dilates our heart, our heart directs our mind, our mind
dictates our steps, and our steps determine our direction and
destiny. Thus where we look is critical, for every glance
steers the carcass of our Christian life.
"THOU hast given a banner to them that fear THEE, that it may be
displayed because of the truth. Selah." The
banner of the believer is the Book beholding the blood bought
gospel of JESUS CHRIST. Stay focused there, and all will
be ultimately triumphant in the lockstep of love it begets.
"Teach me THY way, O LORD; I will walk in THY truth: unite my
heart to fear THY NAME."
