There has always been class when it comes
to economics. Go where you will around the globe, and
you'll find the haves and the have nots.
"For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye
may do them good ..."
And like it or not, it is the LORD WHO is
the giver of each man's lot; and then ours to better or
squander. The haves may come upon their opulence through
the draw of the geographic, industry, frugality, inheritance, or
any combination of these. The latter perhaps find
themselves in squalor as well, through no fault of their own, by
geography, heritage, or some other circumstance beyond their
control.
"And when he had spent
all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to
be in want."
Others still are guilty of indolence, self-indulgence, apathy,
or riotous living of one sort or another.
"For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if
any would not work, neither should he eat."
Though the majority of us, either
don't view it this way, or we simply disagree; the LORD has
entrusted all earthly wealth and possession to us as a
stewardship.
Biblically, there is no wiser investment strategy than the
temporal blessing of people's persons, and the eternal welfare
of their souls. "And all that
believed were together, and had all things common; and sold
their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as
every man had need." The indiscriminate commune
approach of the infidels however, is no cousin to the Christian
charity commanded of us who know HIM.
"I have shewed you all things, how that
so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the
words of the LORD JESUS, how HE said, It is more blessed to give
than to receive."
But I will become a giver when my threshold of personal care has
been secured. No you won't! ... giving is first a gift,
given of GOD, that you will either open and embrace, or reject
and return to SENDER.
"For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according
to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not."
You may rest assured that if you have a silver spoon, however it
got there, GOD put it in your mouth to share, not to show off.
"For ye know the grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, that, though HE
was rich, yet for your sakes HE became poor, that ye through HIS
poverty might be rich ... freely ye have received, freely give."
