Autonomy is a wonderful thing, until you
run your ship aground; and the real captain of your destiny is
never more clearly revealed than amidst the reefs of personal
trouble. Whenever
the going is smooth and straight, the cruise is set and life is
good; but come to a crossroad of crisis, and the choice has to
be made as to what gear you'll go forward in. The
Christian has to thoroughly determine each moment to defer to the
ONE WHO holds the perfect will for his\her life. What
horrible pile-ups there are at many of life's intersections, as
the bewildered without CHRIST, sit idling in the fog of
indecision. A wise old preacher once quipped that most
folks consider the LORD their spare tire in their travels, rather than
the steering wheel ... and even given that, the majority elect to
hobble along on their flat of pride, instead of changing it.
Tragically, many souls go to meet their MAKER at the wreck of
their own will totally unprepared.
"For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the
death of the testator."
A personal last will and testament must
take place on your part, if a living trust in JESUS CHRIST is
ever to occur. Mark it down, this is not a once in a
death-time thing either, but rather a daily transaction, up to and
until your days end on earth.
"For I came down from heaven, not to do MINE OWN will, but the
will of HIM that sent ME."
There of course, is no greater example of this living death than
our LORD, "WHO for the joy that was set
before HIM endured the cross, despising the shame ...".
What foolish prigs they were in HIS day to attempt to sequester
HIM to their agenda.
"But we preach CHRIST
crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks
foolishness;" To
all those who tried to can GOD for carnal pride, HIS cross became
foolishness, but to HIS FATHER WHO willed that blessed event, the cross was the
consummate of HIS purposed love, forlorned since Eden.
"And being found in fashion as a man,
HE humbled HIMSELF, and became obedient unto death, even the
death of the cross." It may havc appeared
to everyone present that the LORD was forcibly marched up Golgotha's hill; but in fact HE
willed HIS way through the crowd that fateful day. So too
will come any victory for us! A walk with the LORD is just
that, but only as we are motivated in HIS will ... will our
steps be energized by HIS SPIRIT.
"Then said HE,
Lo, I come to do THY will, O GOD. HE taketh away the first, that
HE may establish the second. By the which will we are
sanctified through the offering of the body of JESUS CHRIST once
for all."
