Those tender eyes of compassion, once
swollen at the fists of men, have been healed.
"... and HIS eyes were as a flame of fire" John
the Revelator caught a vision of the post ascendant CHRIST,
describing HIS countenance as anything but LAMB-like. HE
came of HIS OWN volition the first time, to be beaten, bruised,
and crucified, for the sin of the whole world, but that is all
done with. HIS meekness has inspired volumes of hymns and
inspirational sermons; but the next glimpse we get of JESUS
CHRIST will literally be indescribable! At the risk of
being misunderstood, there will be no more 'Mr. Nice Guy'
regarding sin ... or the sinner who chooses their sin over
CHRIST, when next we see the LORD.
"... for THINE eyes are open
upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one
according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings"
In that
day, what HE sees with those fiery eyes of judgment and reward, is what we'll get.
"Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in HIS
sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of HIM
with WHOM we have to do."
We have always been at the center of HIS attention; but
doubtless, there is an urgency in HIS affection; and a squint to
HIS focus, as these last days leading up to HIS return draw to a close.
"Mine eye affecteth mine heart ..."
is a principle true of us, solely because
of WHOSE IMAGE in which we are created. GOD, in pity, sent
HIS only BEGOTTEN to Calvary's tree, that every last drop of
tear and blood be shed as proof of said pity.
"For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and HE
pondereth all his goings."
The eyes of the LORD thus charts our way
this side of the cross in loving sovereignty and grace; in
order to bring us to that home in Heaven HE has gone to prepare
(cf. John 14:1-4). If you
have that: 'somebody is watching', feeling on
occasion, it is justified. Don't be surprised though, by
the furrow of HIS brow one day in irreversible judgment, if
you've resisted eye contact with HIM; and spent your whole life instead
focusing on your sin.
"For the eyes of the LORD are over the righteous, and HIS ears
are open unto their prayers: but the face of the LORD is against
them that do evil."
