Want to scrapbook but feeling overwhelmed when looking at those stacks of unorganized photos?  Here are some ideas that can get you started.

Scrap booking is my daughter's favorite hobby.  She is quick and creative with her pages.  Below are the simple steps she uses to create a quick page.

bulletPick a theme and title
bulletlike a favorite vacation or holiday
bulletCrop the pictures
bullet trim the picture cutting away the excess background.
bulletLayout page
bulletSome people measure.  She fiddles with different placements until it looks just the way she likes it.
bulletPick background
bulletPick coordinating colors for the background frame of picture and notation blocks
bulletMake notations
bulletWrite a few sentences or short paragraph describing this special event.
bulletEmbellish
bulletAdd fun stickers to your page.
bulletList important events:
bulletTalk it over with others to help refresh your memory.
bulletGather everything together in one place:
bulletNot only pictures, but other memorabilia should be gathered such as postcards, art work, report cards, certificates, old passports, tickets, letters, letters...).
bulletSort and label items.
bulletThrow away pictures that are blurry or damaged.
bulletSort items by decade to get started.  You may have to use similar backgrounds, people, and items in the pictures to help you figure this out.  Asking family and friends that were in the photos will help.
bulletNote on the back what you have discovered, dates, people in picture, ages, special events etc..
bulletBundle pictures together by event.
bullet
bulletPut all pictures that you are not sure of in a follow-up category.
bulletCategorize:
bulletSeparate bundles into piles that would be part of the same album.  Such as weddings, vacations, birthdays, by child, holidays.  Some people use a chronological approach, some categorical.  I've done some of both.
