Dilly Bread

This is my
husband's favorite homemade bread:
Total Cost: $1.60 Serves:
16 at
$.10 per serving.
Ingredients:
- Yeast mixture (1 package yeast
dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water)
- 1 cup cottage cheese, heated
lukewarm
- 1 Tablespoon instant onion
- 2 Tablespoons sugar
- 1 Tablespoon butter
- 2 teaspoons dill weed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 unbeaten egg
- 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 Cups all purpose flour
Directions to Prepare:
- Combine: cottage cheese, sugar, instant onion,
butter, dill weed, baking soda, egg, and yeast mixture.
- Mix:
Flour in to form a soft dough, beating well.
- Rise:
Until dough is 2 to 2 1/2 times.
- Stir:
down.
- Place:
In coated loaf pan or muffin pans.
- Bake: in
preheated 350 F oven until brown.
Baking Tip:
Dry biscuits can be caused by baking in
an oven temperature that is too low or by handling the dough too
much.
